As a young girl, Wendy learned quickly from the example of her family to love and serve others. She served as pianist, Sunday School teacher, VBS teacher, and Youth Director for her church in New Braunfels.
After graduating from college, Wendy joined the Houston Junior Forum and the Junior League of Houston and volunteered as a tutor in the READ Commission, counselor for Camp Rainbow for children with diabetes, docent for the Children’s Museum of Houston, hostess at the Recreation Center for Older Adults and teacher at the Forum’s preschool on Houston’s east side.
After the birth of her children, Wendy served on the boards of the preschool, elementary and middle school they attended as PTA President, Treasurer, Webmaster and Curriculum Support Coordinator. She coached all three of her sons in basketball. At her current church, Kingsland Baptist, Wendy and her husband Rob have volunteered as directors for their Sunday morning small group and Sunday School teachers.
She has also enjoyed working as a teacher and registrar for VBS and a greeter at the Welcome Center. Wendy has served overseas on 4 mission trips to Cambodia working in an orphanage and medical center. She has been an active member of the Republican Party serving as parliamentarian for the Republican Women’s Club of Katy and the Greater Katy Area Republicans and as a delegate for the 2018 Republican State Convention. Her latest efforts have been directed into Barker Flood Prevention’s goals of acquiring regional flood control solutions.
Wendy’s goal for her life is clear, “I have one life to live, and at the end of it, I want to look back and feel that I did my part to have a positive impact on people that crossed my path.”
